Local Activities

Whether you are looking for relaxation or an energetic getaway, The Lazy Dear has it all right in our backyard. Rafting on the Arkansas River, Cycling Independence Pass (like the big boys on the USA Pro Cycling Challenge), or summiting one of Colorado's 14ers you're sure to find it all right here.  If fishing is your hobby, you can choose from Twin Lakes, Mt. Elbert Forebay, Turquoise Lake or the Arkansas River.

Want a motorized tour? Nearby in Buena Vista there are Jeep and ATV rentals giving you access to 1,000' s of acres of National Forest. Guide books can help you find ghost towns and other areas of interest.

Winter activities in the area include:  snowshoeing, snowmobiling, dog sledding and, of course, Colorado's world class skiing. Ski Cooper is a quick 40 minute drive and is great for beginners. Ask us about purchasing discount lift tickets for Ski Cooper!
